The festive season may be a joyous and exciting time for some, but for others, especially those who are neurodiverse, it can be extremely difficult – different food, tinsel and Xmas lights all over the place, people you haven’t seen in a long time, or even, ever, meals at different times, all routines thrown out of the window, and so on. There’s massive opportunities for sensory overload and difficulties coping with all the changes. So what can be done to help make the holiday season easier for neurodiverse children?
Melisa Skana of Valuing MInds considers the problems and comes up with some solutions.
