Valuing Minds works with schools in a variety of ways to provide advice, guidance, interventions and/or training.
It’s a difficult time in education: throughout the sector, schools and colleges are having to do more with less – fewer resources available to manage increased workloads and paperwork, increased demand for greater student support and increased regulation. There appears to be an ‘epidemic’ of mental health problems among the young, with media reporting almost on a daily basis that younger and younger children are showing signs of stress, isolation and depression – and with limited CAMHS (Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services) to refer youngsters to.
At the same time, teacher stress is at an all-time high. Teacher recruitment and retention are posing huge challenges for senior leaders and schools, as experienced staff leave the profession and often applicant pools, especially for senior posts, are small.
